CHARLIE HUDSON
Charlie Hudson is an Australian born, American artist who lives and works in New York City.
Through his work, Hudson aims to create a sense of place with loose, abstract brush strokes that tighten as the layers build up. A nostalgic, dream-like quality emerges from this process, as Hudson focuses predominantly on the ‘feeling’ of the scene, rather than portraying perfect realism. Hudson has always had a strong admiration of and affinity for nature. Over the years, he has become equally fascinated by the natural patterns reflected in man made structures of today’s society, speaking to the scope of his work, from land- to city-scapes, and everything in between.
As a child, Hudson fantasized about jumping inside the paintings he saw and created - inspired by similar adventures in the kid’s program, Blue’s Clues. Hudson sees his paintings not as static images, but instead as windows and doors to his world, that the viewer can imagine opening up and walking into.
Hudson has worked professionally as a studio artist and muralist for nearly a decade, and has had solo shows in Burlington, VT and New York, NY and has painted murals all over the world, from NYC, to London, Sydney, Miami, and Bali.
